In the modern workplace there are increasing efforts to ensure safer working environments for employees and visitors.

Correct signage and area designation are two important ways of preventing accidents, as are safety flooring products. The costs of an accident in terms of damage, insurance, claims and lost time are significantly greater than basic safety expenditure. There a number of ways to achieve a safer environment:

Safety Signs; Having signs in a hazard area will make a visitor more aware of the dangers ie forklifts, no pedestrians, ear defenders required etc. A low cost option proven to reduce the risks. ACM provides a wide range of options, please visit the Safety Signs section of the main website.

Area Designation; Marking floor areas as pedestrian walkways, forklift lanes, and work areas greatly reduces risks compared to a vague layout in an unmarked factory unit. Using ACM Epoxicote to create the areas is a highly effective method because the product is available in a range of colours, is easy to apply and last many years in terms of wear life. A simple but effective method, which is even further enhanced by using ACM floor stickers which are heavy duty safety stickers that accept forklift traffic.

Safety Surfaces; Factories that use sawdust, flour, oil, grease, and water are highly dangerous environments if the processes are on basic powerfloated concrete with no surface treatment. ACM offer a wide range of solutions including industrial matting around machinery, non-slip tapes or GRP Treads for staircases and the most commonly used is ACM Surefoot. This product is a two part epoxy coating for general flooring areas which contains a predispersed fine aggregate which will provide an antislip surface for pedestrians and forklifts without damaging rubber tyres.
